 Lucky Ones

We bought ourselves a house and we call it home

You can kinda see the city through our cracked windows

Well, the gutters leak and the yard’s a mess

Well, the neighbor’s an asshole, that’s our luck, I guess

There ain’t nothing in my pockets, money’s always tight

Bills come, money goes, it keeps me up at night

Neck deep in paper bank demands

Wake up, take a shower, live it over again

Well, honey, I know we’re the lucky ones

So hold me, Virginia, the ship is going down

Well, I won’t let you burn in the flame

It’s hard to stay afloat, sure as hell gonna try

Working for a living, barely getting by

Working for a living’s just another way to die

Well, that asshole neighbor, we ain’t so different

Smokes his Marlboro Reds in a veteran’s hat

He says the coal mine’s gonna open in the future not so distant

This country’s heart’s been broken and it’s veering left

And honey, I know now we’re the lucky ones

So hold me, Virginia, the ship is going down

Well, I won’t let you burn in the flame

It’s hard to stay afloat, sure as hell gonna try

Working for a living, barely getting by

Working for a living’s just another way to die

So hold me, Virginia, the ship is going down

Well, I won’t let you burn in the flame

It’s hard to stay afloat, sure as hell gonna try

Working for a living barely getting by

Working for a living barely getting by

Working for a living, biding my time

Working for a living’s just another way to die

So hold me, Virginia, the ship is going down

Well, I won’t let you burn in the flame

It’s hard to stay afloat, sure as hell gonna try

Working for a living, barely getting by

Working for a living’s just another way to die
